Miller's Martial Arts was established in 1996 in the town of Seward. In 2012 TEAM MMA moved into a 3,600 square foot facility in the Bel Air Shopping Plaza.
The style taught at Miller's Martial Arts is Tang Soo Do. While training you will learn the philosophies and etiquette of the Korean martial art. Instruction will include basic techniques, forms, sparring, self-defense, and weapons. This will be done while enjoying a workout both mentally & physically.
Miller's Martial Arts is part of the Pan Am Tang Soo Do Federation. The federation is located in York, Pa under the guidance of Grandmaster Chong Su Kim. Grandmaster Kim stresses the importance of family, respect, and good grades. Some of the curriculum at Miller's Martial Arts will include perfect attendance awards, good grade recognition, citizenship awards program, kindness journal, and class leaders. Along with what Master Miller already teaches in class and the special events throughout the year, students will get to train with a true Korean Grandmaster several times a year. In 2012 TEAM MMA - Richland offers a FREE Women's Self Defense Class on the 1st Monday of every month from 7:00pm - 7:45pm.
Miller's Martial Arts continues to be in the community by performing demonstrations for events such as Richland Community Days and The Wings of Hope. Since 2008 TEAM MMA has raised over $10,600 for the Wings of Hope Cure For Cancer Demonstration. In 2011 the demonstration team performed prior to the Altoona Curve Baseball Game and in 2012 were part of the half time show with the Harlem Globetrotters.
Why Chose Us? At Miller's Martial Arts we offer smaller class sizes for more individual attention. Classes during the month include the traditional teachings of Tang Soo Do but also include the following; Bring A Friend Night, Family Night, and Street Clothes Night. With classes offered 5 days a week & students can train between 20 - 24 classes per month.
By becoming a member of TEAM MMA you have the ability to participate in events that include tournaments, student and family parties, demonstrations, and themed holiday classes. Come and be a part of the extended TEAM MMA family and see for yourself what separates us from other studios. Let my family train yours.
With the support of Grandmaster Chong Su Kim and the Pan Am Federation, TEAM MMA has continued to better themselves as instructors and students. TEAM MMA instructors regularly train at the federation headquarters in York, PA. In addition, students travel to York for a family weekend 1 time a year, and Grandmaster and his sons travel to Miller’s Martial Arts to train the students.
Class begins nightly with bowing in and reciting the Criteria For Students at Miller’s Martial Arts; Spirit, Dedication, Loyalty, Open Mind, and Willingness To Train. Following that they proceed to the 3 R’s; Respect for self, Respect for others, & Responsibility for all your actions. At the conclusion of class students repeat the 5 Codes of Tang Soo Do and 7 Tenets of Tang Soo Do. During the children’s class the children are reminded of how important they and their families are. The students together state, “Who is the best person in the world?, I am sir”, and “Who made me the best person in the world?, My family sir!’
Instructors also make students aware of the Student Pledge, Creed, Rules of Manners at Home and School. Every month students are encouraged to participate in the Citizenship Awards Program. This is a chart that helps monitor what the students are doing well at home, school, and in the do jang. The students are asked to return the sheets monthly for a small prize. During testing months a Kindness Journal is kept to track the good deeds done by students.
